This is a Walk for Nations update 🙂 The team spent the past weekend in Shoal Lake First Nation attending the pow wow. Thank you Shoal Lake for your hospitality. The team is currently in Kenora, Ontario. They will be visiting with surrounding communities during the week. The team will be walking out of Kenora on September 3rd and heading west to arrive in Winnipeg on September 9th. We will keep you posted on the teams progress. Chi meegwetch for all your support!!
I would just like to take the time to introduce everyone to 2 of our newest youth walkers to the “Walk For Nations” team. Johnny Daybutch joined the team in Ottawa. Our most recent one is Will Nogonash, who joined up with the team in Garden River. These 2 young men have taken over the places of Leland McIntyre and Asia Bui, who left the team in Blind River to go back to school, to finish their education. We woud like to thank all the youth walkers for their continue dedication to make a difference for our people. Chi -meegwetch!!

“At a young age, Kenny Kawtiash stopped going to school. It wasn’t until the death of his grandmother Annette Kowtiash that he decided to turn his life around and inspire others to do the same.
Now a music engineer, the 18-year-old from Thunder Bay has taken steps to change his life. He enrolled in the music program at York University and joined Walk for Nations, a cross-country tour to that brings awareness to youth and gang issues…”

We are off to our next destination Wasauksing First Nation today. We’ll stay the night then off to Shawanda First Nation then Magnetawan First Nations by Tuesday.
